Katanas combine relatively fast attacks with useful reach and distinct weapon identities. The right choice still depends on stats, skill use and whether the moveset fits your timing.
Start with the moveset
Use normal attacks against regular enemies before making a decision. If the rhythm feels awkward, a small paper-damage advantage rarely fixes the problem.
Check stat requirements
Some katana setups fit naturally into Dexterity-focused builds, while others ask for secondary investment. Treat every extra requirement as part of the weapon's real cost.
Weapon skills matter
A strong weapon skill can change range, burst damage or how safely you punish openings. Compare how often you realistically use it rather than valuing only maximum damage.
Boss preparation
Faster attacks can be helpful against bosses with short punish windows. If a fight feels unsafe, consider whether the issue is speed, reach, stamina use or the broader build.
Keep the build coherent
Talismans, armor load and secondary stats should support the same combat loop. Avoid turning one weapon choice into a scattered build with too many unrelated requirements.
